How big is the Silver Spur Guest Ranch

The historical Silver Spur Guest Ranch, is located on 300 acres in Bandera, Texas, is one of the finest guest ranches in the Texas Hill Country. The ranch has a great neighbor, the Hill Country State Natural Area, which has over 5,600 acres our guests can use for extended horseback rides, fishing, camping and wildlife watching.

Are you open year round?

Yes, the Silver Spur is open year-round with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Which airport do we fly into? Do you provide shuttle service?

Most of our guests fly into San Antonio International Airport, which is located approximately 1 hour and 15 minute drive from the Silver Spur. We refer all of our guests to Ray Farrar of Ray’s Rides for shuttle service to and from the ranch. You may contact Ray’s Ride’s for reservations and fees by calling 830-388-2443.

What are your Check-in and Check-out times?

Check-in time – 3:00pm.  Rooms are guaranteed to be available at 3:00pm for check-in, however  guests are welcome to arrive earlier in the day to enjoy lunch, ranch amenities, horseback riding, etc.  Please let us know when making your reservation if you will be arriving early for lunch and/or morning horseback rides.

Check-out time – 11:00am. Guests must check-out of their room by 11:00am, however guests are welcome to stay on the ranch for the day to enjoy lunch, afternoon horseback rides, ranch amenities and outdoor activities.  Please let us know when making your reservation if you will be staying for lunch and/or afternoon horseback rides.

What should I pack?

Our dude ranch is definitely a casual and comfortable atmosphere. Wear what you will feel most comfortable in while relaxing and if you have Western wear, bring it along and you will fit right in! Below are recommended clothing and items for optimal safety and comfort during activities on the ranch you may be participating in .

Horseback Riding:

• Jeans or riding pants
• Long sleeve shirts
• Hat, gloves, sunglasses
• A jacket for cooler weather

Hiking :

• Hiking boots or athletic shoes
• Layers for cooler weather

Swimming:

• Swimsuit
• Sunscreen
( We provide pool towels)

For the warmer months (May – October), we recommend packing shorts and short-sleeved shirts. For cooler months (November – April) you’ll need to pack a jacket and warmer clothes.

If needed, we have sweatshirts, t-shirts, western hats and beanies available for purchase in our Gift Shop located in the main Lodge.

Will I have cell phone service?

Cell phone service is very spotty on the ranch. There are certain spots that seen receive a better signal depending on your cell phone provider. We do have a landline available office located in the Main Lodge if you need to make an important phone call.

Will I have Internet access?

Yes, we do have satellite-based Wi-Fi available to our guests. The Lodge Ranch Room is equipped with wireless internet through a satellite dish. Bring your laptop with wireless modem and stay in touch with the outside world. Since the internet is through satellite, it can be a little temperamental with the weather. There is a small daily fee for Wi-Fi access.

Do you allow pets?

Unfortunately, because of all the animals on the ranch, we can’t accommodate pets. However, there’s an excellent kennel we can refer you to in town should it be needed.

What is your alcohol policy?

We have a variety of beer and wine available by donation – $3 per glass of wine or bottle of beer. You are also welcome to bring your own to enjoy during your stay.

What do we do if we’ve forgotten something important?

We are a short 9 mile drive to the town of Bandera where you will find a hardware store, grocery store, liquor store, dollar store and a variety of small shops selling western items, clothing, boots etc.

Can we rent the entire ranch for a family gathering or other event?

Yes, guests may rent the entire Silver Spur Guest Ranch property for family reunions, corporate retreats and other special events such as birthdays, weddings and other celebrations. What’s your food like?

Our food is All American and Cowboy Western! Three hearty, homemade meals a day that include fresh salads, fruits, and homemade desserts and breads. We also provide unlimited snacks and beverages in the Main Lodge throughout the day and evening.

Do you accommodate special diets?

We are happy to accommodate any special dietary needs at no extra cost! We offer separate options for those of you who are gluten intolerant, vegetarian, vegan or have a food allergy. Just don’t forget to let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly!

What is NOT included in the all-inclusive rate?

Beer & wine ($3 donation per bottle of beer or glass of wine or bring your own), bottled water, Healing Studio wellness therapy sessions and gift shop items.

What if I have never ridden a horse before?

Many of our guests experience their first horseback ride with us. We have horses that are appropriate for first time and inexperienced riders. Our experienced wranglers choose the appropriate horse for each rider and help people to feel comfortable, learn at their own pace and to ride safely. The horseback rides at the Silver Spur are scenic with our panoramic hills, meadows and areas covered with trees. We have friendly horses and the most experienced wranglers in the Hill Country, so even beginners as well as experienced riders are in good hands to enjoy the breathtaking trail rides.

May I ride on my own without a guide?

For your safety and riding enjoyment, all of our riding is guided. Our wranglers know the ranch and the adjacent Hill Country Natural State Area trail networks that can be quite complex.

How many horses do you have on the ranch?

We currently have 22 horses for trail rides and 5 horses for the Wranglers.

What amenities are in my room?

Each room is equipped with a bathroom with tub shower, a closet, air conditioning/ heat and a television. A refrigerator, ice, hairdryers and a microwave are available to our guests and are located in the Main Lodge.

What is the distance to the nearest town?

The Silver Spur is a short distance of 9 miles from Bandera, Texas – the “Cowboy Capital of the World”. Other nearby popular areas to explore are Boerne (34 miles), Kerrville (34 miles), Fredricksberg (58 miles), San Antonio ( 63 miles) and Gruene/ New Braunfels (85 miles).
