The Silver Spur Guest Ranch is owned and operated by Garry and Kay Walsmith. Their family and extraordinarily friendly staff look forward to welcoming you to the ranch. We hope you feel like part of the family during your stay. The Walsmiths fell in love with the Hill Country while at their family reunion. They had always dreamed of having a place for families to come and enjoy each other, meet new friends, make special memories, and to get away from the daily grind. While shopping in the area, Kay picked up magazines and information everywhere she went. One day after they returned home, they were going through the pile she had collected and a real estate magazine opened up to a page about the Silver Spur like it was meant to be. The rest is history.
The Silver Spur was lovingly renovated and redecorated by the Walsmiths prior to opening for guests. We still find projects to keep us busy, so you might notice something new each time you come like our poolside gazebo or hay barn. The ranch is located in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas, just 9 miles from Bandera, the "Cowboy Capital of the World." The ranch has a great neighbor, the Hill Country State Natural Area, which has over 5,600 acres our guests can use for extended horseback rides, fishing, camping and wildlife watching.
We love offering special events like "Cowgirl's Weekends." The Silver Spur is a great place for family reunions, company BBQ's, weddings, parties, you name it. During your stay, you might enjoy a world famous trick roper show, country band, a storyteller or singing cowboy, your skill at a Texas Hold ‘em table or even a chance to sing Karaoke with other guests! The little "kiddos" especially love our critters: miniature donkeys, pygmy goats, longhorns, peacocks, geese and more. Everyone has fun at the campfire roasting marshmallows and making their own s’mores each night.

The Silver Spur has comfortable guest accommodations. All the facilities have been remodeled, upgraded and renewed. The rooms and cabins are beautifully decorated and furnished to make you feel right at home.

The horseback rides at the Silver Spur are scenic with our panoramic hills, meadows and areas covered with trees. We have friendly horses and the most experienced wranglers in the Hill Country, so even beginners as well as experienced riders are in good hands to enjoy the breathtaking trail rides.
